Kymin Dash 2019
14 April 2019
The Kymin Dash is a challenging and very scenic 7 mile race, straight up to the top of the Kymin above Monmouth, and back down on a long scenic loop of the Wye Valley.
Spirit of Monmouth Running Club are proud to present this race for the 7th year following on from the continued success and growth of previous years.
Registration and finish are at Monmouth School Sports Club (MSSC) The start is 15 minutes walk from registration. The course (and the route to the start) will be well marshalled and there will be 2 water stations. It is mainly on tarmac and forest roads, and is suitable for road shoes. All finishers will receive a T-shirt (T-shirt size can only be guaranteed for entries received by 14/3/19) .
The course starts with an ascent to the Round House, a local viewpoint at around 850ft. The opening mile or so will certainly give your lungs a workout. What goes up must come down and a gentle descent through fields and the bluebell carpeted forest tracks before a long flat finish along the Hadnock Road into the Monmouth School Sports Club.
Prize-giving will be at MSSC. As last year, there will be prizes for the 'King' and 'Queen' of the hill as well as finishing places. There will be cake and other refreshments available after the race. We are grateful to our sponsors Monmouthshire Conservatory Company, Brighter Foods, Wild Trail, Walford Timber and Dunn's Engineering Resource Limited for making the race possible. Any profits generated will be donated to Tŷ Hafan (https://www.tyhafan.org/).
Male course record is 39m 50s, set by Huw Evans in 2015.
Female course record is 44m 32s, set by Emma Wookey in 2015.
King of the Hill record is 9m 15s, set by Huw Evans in 2015.
Queen of the Hill record is 10m 31 s, set by Emma Wookey in 2015.
